Connecticut Attorney Appointed To Plaintiffs Steering Committee

Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith, is pleased to announce that U.S. District Judge Richard Seeborg of the Northern District of California has appointed Kelly A. Fitzpatrick to the Plaintiff Steering Committee in the multidistrict litigation, In re: Viagra (Sildenafil Citrate) Products Liability Litigation, MDL No. 2691. Ms. Fitzpatrick was appointed along with fourteen other attorneys from throughout the United States.

Over 100 cases filed throughout the United States have been consolidated in the MDL. The Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee is responsible for conducting and coordinating pre-trial proceedings and advocating on behalf of plaintiffs who have been diagnosed with melanoma and suffered from serious complications, even death, as a result of taking Viagra.

Attorney Agostinho J. Ribeiro, CEO of Ventura, Ribeiro & Smith commented, “We as civil justice lawyers are proud to represent dozens of citizens in this case against Pfizer.”

Plaintiffs allege that Pfizer concealed facts about the drug’s safety and failed to warn about an increased risk of melanoma, despite the existence of studies which reflect a potential link between Viagra use and melanoma.

Attorney Fitzpatrick has represented thousands of victims of dangerous drugs and medical devices for several years and says, “I am honored to serve on this steering committee and feel privileged to be selected as a voice for our clients.”
